It has a direct input so we can just plug in our MP3 players or iPods and ski to our favorite tunes. You may want to add other speakers if your boat is very big. I used the speakers that came with it in the open bow and i have four other larger speakers in the middle and back of the boat and it pushes them all just fine. we can even listen at a full cruise. You may want to also buy an optional water cover but make sure you have extra room around the stereo as they take an additional inch or so on all sides and stick up about two and a half. I wanted to avoid more components, such as an amp that could go bad in our saltwater environment. They lasted a solid year. If you wiggle the connector posts a little they turn back on here and there. I am shopping as we speak for this spring. The speaker material is falling apart too. My back speakers are better, but due for replacement as well after 2 years.The stereo has lasted 2 years no problems. It does have a gel coat on the circuit board. When mounting I put it under my panel but the stock speedometer for my boat was above the stereo. The speedometer that runs off the water pressure nozzle started leaking on it and it didn't last a day, as I found out one fine sunny day. I have since got a speedometer wheel hooked up to my depth finder. This stereo death is expected of course, but compared to VHS and other boat electronics, you would thing by now they would have made submersible stereos, but I digress... Read more |
