5.0 out of 5 stars Great head unit for digital music, December 24, 2010

I really like this unit. Maybe it's just because I think like the Sony guys when it comes to using a device - I don't know.

I installed the unit in my Jeep in about 5 minutes using a generic wiring harness adapter. I plugged my iPod into the Tune Tray and was scrolling through album titles in seconds. It does take a few seconds to "read" the iPod which is understandable since I have about 40GB of music on it.

I found it easy to set up the EQ; I used the Gravity preset first then tweaked it a little. I really liked the listening space feature which I set to front left seat since I drive by myself most of the time. It sounds great and is plenty loud for my vehicle.

This unit was a little more expensive than some that I considered but not too bad considering Bluetooth is included. Unlike the previous unlucky reviewer, I knew exactly what I was getting. I use the Tune Tray for my iPod and I connect my iPhone 3GS via Bluetooth to stream music from my... Read more

With bluetooth enabled on my phone all I have to do is walk into my car now and press play on my phone. The stereo connects automatically and quickly (after an easy initial setup) to my phone.

Amazon had the cheapest price on the net at the time of my purchase. Do yourself a favor and buy a deck like this one which uses technology newer than the year 2000.
CD's? psssh. My 30gb ipod classic stored inside the head unit and 32gb non apple cell phone work wonderfully and scoff at the notion of cd's with mp3's.

My previous head unit finally crapped out after dying a slow, annoying death.

I concluded that all I needed was line in and pre-amp outputs. That's all I need for my ipod touch. My system does not require the head unit for amplification and I don't use CDs or listen to the radio anymore.

I chose this more expensive model because I wanted the BT integration. I moved to CA and it's not legal to drive on the phone without handsfree. It also had a nicer display.

The unit has lots of adjustments. I only use the 7 band eq and adjusted sound for my car's speaker distances. It sounds really good.

You can see all your playlists and content type on the display.

Overall, I'm pleased but the selector knob is pretty bad. It presses, rotates and moves four ways. The menu system is not very intuitive when navigating and I have trouble pressing in the knob, often moving it in one of four directions with unexpected results. Sometimes it doesn't... Read more
