It is a really excellent unit if you don't care about these three things:1) It "navigates" an iPod by ALWAYS starting at Music. I have 160 GB of music on my iPod. If I'm playing (say) a Richard Thompson album and want to listen to a different album of his, on the iPod I would click Menu to show the tracks on the current album, click again to show his list of albums, scroll to the next album, click to list its tracks, and click to play. The Sony requires a minimum of 86 screen-taps to do the same thing. I say "a minimum" because the real number is approx 100: the screen doesn't register every tap. Yes, I can choose to control the iPod directly, but that reduces this unit to a very large and expensive volume control. 2)... Im actually giving it 4 stars overall based on my feeling of it at this stage after Ive beefed it up. Ill start with some issues. First I would like to say that the sound quality is not on the level of the Panasonic double din in the same category. The 5 band eq system doesnt give the type of clarity you expect. I suppose its a Sony and their forte is not reallllly stereos. It doesn't push the highs and lows much more over the stock double din that I replaced it with. 2nd the navigation around the unit is a little cumbersome. At times you push buttons and it beeps but doesn't switch to the screen you need etc. Also when you want to do simple things like change the clock or preset radio buttons you can[t really figure it out on your own and end up having to grab the damn manual to review the multiple steps and screens you need to push etc. On top of that my bluetooth phone wouldnt identify the unit... I ended up buying and loving this Sony unit for it's capability, but disliking it's lack of usability and ipod control. I've owned the unit now for a few months and here are my feelings:The pros of this unit are: - Clear screen - Built-in Bluetooth audio streaming that works with Android smartphones - Voice Dialing - Album artwork displayed from iPod - Functionality/Capability - Wired mic is included for hands-free calling - Plays DivX video content - Auto syncs with my phone nicely The cons of this unit are: - USB connection on the front disconnects if it is nudged (could be a dealbreaker if you have manual transmission) - Response time after tapping the screen is slow - Bluetooth audio streaming with my Triumph phone cuts in and out sometimes - iPod navigation...
